Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Endowed Scholarship - Due - February 28, 2015
MLK Scholars will be selected on the basis of the following criteria as a
whole:
. Demonstrated Leadership
. Commitment/Involvement with Social Change in Communities
. Financial Need
. Academic Achievement
. Strength of Personal Statement
Applicants must be current full-time students at MSU & plan to enroll at MSU
the following academic year (2015-2016). The scholarship is open to both
undergraduate and graduate/*professional students at MSU. In the
application, students must provide a two-page typed personal statement in
which they discuss their: student leadership, extra-curricular activities,
involvement with social change in their communities, financial need for the
scholarship, and career goals. Finally, student applicants are asked to
respond to the following question: "If you become a recipient of an MLK
scholarship, consistent with the legacy of Dr. King, how will you contribute
to communities in the future?".
It is preferred that applications are submitted online

11:30pm on February 28, 2015.
Recipients are normally selected by the end of Spring semester, with awards
to be effective the following fall semester. The number of awards made in a
given year and the amount of the awards will be based upon available
expendable funds in that year. Generally, awards are credited during the
tuition payment process. The MLK Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to
qualified student applicants in accordance with normal procedures followed
by the Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid.

*Professional MSU College of Law students are eligible to apply as long as
they are dual enrolled in both the MSU College of Law & the MSU Graduate
School for the following academic year (2015-2016).
