Please join us for free MATLAB training seminars on Wednesday, February
16 in
the Engineering Building, Room 3540. Faculty, staff and students are all
welcome to attend.
Register for these seminars at www.mathworks.com/seminars/msu0211
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Session 1: Data Analysis, Acquisition and Visualization in MATLAB
During this session we will introduce specific examples to demonstrate
how to
acquire, analyze and visualize data through mathematical, statistical and
engineering functions that support common engineering operations. This
session
is designed to provide an overview of the MATLAB technical computing
environment, including desktop tools for editing and debugging code,
publishing
your work, programming and 3-D visualization, and creating graphical user
interfaces (GUI). We will also incorporate a number of new features
from the
latest version of MATLAB.
Highlights include:
• Importing data and images into MATLAB
• Performing statistical analysis and curve fitting
• Automating analysis via automatic MATLAB code generation
• Building GUIs and generating reports
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Session 2: Speeding Up MATLAB Applications
In this session, we will demonstrate simple ways to improve and optimize
your
code that can boost execution speed by orders of magnitude. We will also
address common pitfalls in writing MATLAB code, explore the use of the
MATLAB
Profiler to find bottlenecks, and introduce the use of Parallel Computing
Toolbox and MATLAB Distributed Computing Server to solve computationally and
data-intensive problems on multicore computers and clusters.
Highlights include:
• Understanding memory usage and vectorization in MATLAB
• Addressing bottlenecks in your programs
• Transitioning from serial to parallel MATLAB programs
• Scaling up to a computer cluster, grid environment or cloud
