Google Ann Arbor has a challenge for you! *C*an you make the web a safer
place?

Staying safe online can be a tricky task -- for every vulnerability,
good or bad habits will make you safer or more at risk. Yet the "best
practices" are no mystery; for example, you can see one compilation of
these practices at g.co/SecurityGuide2013
<http://g.co/SecurityGuide2013>. And there is a growing philosophy of
teaching these practices in fun, interactive ways that get through to
people without feeling like work -- check out this interactive game
<https://www.staysecureonline.com/staying-safe-online/quiz/>for one
example of that philosophy in action.

We are cordially inviting you to participate in our second annual
'24HoursOfGood' Hackathonat Google's Ann Arbor office. This year, we
will be partnering with Google Ideas
<http://www.google.com/ideas/about/>, our internal 'Think/Do' tank that
works on solving large global challenges.

Our goal in this hackathon is to develop new, fun, straightforward games
that teach people how to stay safe and secure on the web. In 24 hours,
teams will choose a project from the menu of options, come up with a
basic game concept, and implement a simple prototype that puts the user
"in the driver's seat" and makes abstract cybersecurity principles real
in a visceral way. Outputs will be judged based on creativity,
usability, polish, and likelihood of actually changing the habits of the
player.

So here's how it will work.Student teams of between 4-5 participants
will join forces to select a project - you will rank your top three a
few days before the event. You'll come to Google Ann Arbor ready to
roll, and after dinner and a few API talks, get started on building the
solution to your chosen problem statement.

Google Engineers and technical staff will be on hand at the hackathon to
get you started, and to help out throughout the day/night. We will be
providing lots of food, drinks, snacks and most importantly caffeine to
keep you going and making the most progress against internet evil-doers,.

In addition, the top three winning teams will each receive some great
prizes (Nexus 7's for first place, Chromecasts for second and third
place), as well as lots of great swag for everyone. We know you want to
hack for GOOD, so here are the details:
