Exploring Science and Engineering with Evolutionary Computation

By Dr. Philip K. McKinley
Room 3105 Engineering Building
7pm this Thursday

Wouldn't it be great if you could put "Master of Evolutionary
Computation" on your resume? Well this is the next best thing! This
Thursday Dr. McKinley will be giving a talk on evolutionary computation,
an exciting field of computer science that you won't want to miss out
on! Here is a brief overview of the talk from Dr. McKinley:

"Evolutionary computation codifies the basic principles of genetic
evolution in computer software, and provides a powerful method to
investigate the driving forces in both biological systems and
complex engineered systems. In this talk, I will describe our recent
studies in applying various forms of evolutionary computation to
problems in science and engineering, including: studies of bacterial
communities and antibiotic resistance, applications to software
engineering and distributed computing systems, and the design of
    adaptive and self-healing autonomous robots."

And if all of that isn't enough to get you excited for the talk, there
will also be free pizza!

See you Thursday!
