If you have any questions, be sure to contact Dr. Wei Peng
(pengwei at msu.edu)
From Dr. Peng.........................
Dear MSU student:
> You are invited to participate in a research study that hopes to
> improve the design of a fun and engaging video game to help you get
> exercise while you play! Right now, we're conducting a series of lab
> experiments to get a good idea of how many calories you will burn by
> playing this game. We would like to invite you to be one of the first
> who can experience the game.
>
> The experiment session should take about 60 minutes. You will be asked
> to avoid eating for two to three hours prior to the session, as food
> ingestion can affect energy expenditure values. In the session, you
> will be invited to the Human Energy Research lab to play the game for
> 30 minutes and complete a questionnaire about your experience with the
> game. You will wear a heart rate monitor placed on a belt around your
> chest and an ActiGraph accelerometer placed on a belt at the hip while
> you are playing the game to measure energy expenditure. Some of you
> will be chosen to wear a metabolic device to measure your energy
> expenditure during game play. The metabolic device has a mask you wear
> to measure your oxygen uptake. You will receive a $10 e-giftcard to
> Amazon.com via email a week after your participation. If you are
> recruited from a class and your instructor allows, you will also
> receive extra course credit. If you are interested, please visit the
> following link to fill out a short survey which takes about 5 minutes
> to complete. If you are selected to participate, we will email you to
> schedule your session.
