The acm programming contest ( http://cm.baylor.edu/welcome.icpc ) is an
annual event that is held across the world. Students compete on a set of
programming problems to find which school has the best programmers.

The contest is held in rounds, the first round being a regional contest
usually held in October. The regional for this year was just held and
MSU had two teams participate. However, many of the other schools in our
region (Waterloo, Carnegie Mellon, University of Michigan) take this
contest very seriously and usually win the regional. They train year
round to be ready. If we have students who are interested in being
better prepared for the contest, we are considering holding a 1 hour CSE
491 course in the Spring, with a focus on training for the contest. If
you are interested, please contact Teresa and let her know.

Based on interest we will decide what to do to get ready for next year.
