I'm writing to let you know about a course we are offering this term
that may be of interest to your students, as it deals with technology
entrepreneurship. It's a one credit special topics course called "The
Art of the Start", and takes students with a innovative idea through
the process of developing a sound business plan and pitching their
idea to venture capitalists. There are several seats available, and
it is open to students from across the university. The course takes
place over one weekend - February 7 and 8 - and is taught by three MSU
alums. Dick Bush leads the effort - he was been a California-based
high tech entrepreneur for a number of years, and helped to launch
many successful Silicon Valley start-ups.
They taught this course last year and we had lots of positive
feedback, and so invited them to do it again. Dick teaches an
entrepreneurship course for MA and PhD students at Stanford. This
version is directed at undergraduates, although open to graduate
students. A web page with more details is available: https://www.msu.edu/course/tc/491/artstart/
Any students with interest in this course should contact Rachel Iseler
at tcma at msu.edu.
