Some useful links:

	http://code.google.com/soc/2008/

especially the Frequently Asked Questions,

	http://code.google.com/opensource/gsoc/2008/faqs.html

The Wikipedia page has some interesting stays:

although I would emphasize to students that picking a project and
finding a mentor from an important foundation raises the odds of being
successful substantially.

Students should feel free to run stuff by me; my e-mail is at the bottom
of this message.

Oh, and please don't submit more than 1 or 2 project applications per
student. It raises the pre-program mentor workload substantially.
