Dear MSU faculty, administrative and career services partners,
Thank you for your assistance in helping us promote our upcoming “Tech
Tours” on April 11 and 18. Limited space is still available for both
tours, but since the first tour is now only a week away, we would
especially appreciate your help reminding any CS and IT students that
you interact with about next Friday’s event.
The Capital Area IT Council is partnering with MSU Career Services and
“Linking Lansing and U” to present “Tech Tours”—a unique “live, work,
play” experience promoting our area’s vast career and community
offerings to the next generation of IT professionals. Please help us get
the word out about these upcoming events!
U Town Meets Old Town…
The April 11 “Tech Tour” will feature Lansing’s Old Town--including
stops at ACD.net, Ciesa Design and Such Video. We’re also working with
the university to arrange a tour of their IT facilities and learn about
employment opportunities with MSU. We’ll also be checking out the
Motorwheel Lofts and Old Town’s distinct social scene.
West Side’s Where Its At…
The April 18 “Tech Tour” will feature Lansing’s West Side. Stops will
include Liquid Web, Auto-Owners Insurance, and the Michigan Department
of Information Technology. The tour will loop back around to end
downtown—where the group will tour the Stadium District project and
socialize with friends/employers at the Nut House (and since the Lugnuts
have a home game that night, you can make plans to stay downtown after
the tour and check out the action at Oldsmobile Park!)
To sign up, email Chris at cknapp at camw.net (be sure to indicate which of
the tours you are interested in.) Once registration information is
received, a detailed itinerary with transportation schedule will be
emailed to participants as confirmation.
Space is limited, so reservations will be handled on a first come, first
serve basis with preference being given to first time “Tech
Tourers”—however, in the event demand exceeds availability, all
additional interested students will be placed on waiting lists for
future “Tech Tours”.
Thanks,
Chris Knapp
