Spartasoft will be holding a Game Jam competition this weekend for all
that are interested. Teams of 1 to 4 people will have 48 hours (all 48
hours do not have to be spent creating the game, sleep is recommended)
to create a computer game that will be judged by Jared Riley of Hero
Interactive and Brian Winn, Professor of Game Design at MSU.
If you are interested in making a game and want a group to work with
there will be a group making meeting at Bubble Island (515 E Grand River
Ave) which is right next to Peanut Barrel and across the street from
Berkey Hall at 7PM on Thursday, November 8th. There, yourself and
others can compare talents and form a group to make a great game. If
you cannot make it to this event and are looking for a group e-mail
gamejam at gmail.com and we will try our best to set you up with a team to
work with.
The competition will start Friday, November 9th at 6PM and go until
Sunday, November 11th at 6PM at which point your games will then be
judged. The award ceremony will be at roughly 7PM in RM 161 of the Comm
Arts Bldg. Prizes will be awarded to the top game in each category.
Prize Categories:
Best Use of Theme (the theme is holidays, and by that we mean any holiday)
Most Innovative
Best of Show
If you are interested in competing and have a team formed or are working
by yourself make sure to e-mail gamejam at gmail.com by 10PM on Friday with
your team's, name, and members. Submission requirements will be sent by
e-mail to those who registered their team. There is no required area
that the design of the game must take place but 242 of the Comm Arts
Bldg. has a lot of programs installed that can assist in the design of
your games.
If you have any questions please e-mail gamejam at gmail.com
