Welcome back!<br><br>We have a few general announcements about the semester, as well as a list of upcoming events now through February, so mark your calendars. Sorry it's a bit long but we want everyone to know about the events we will be holding in the next couple of months.<br>
<br>First of all, <b>if you have not yet ordered a T-Shirt but want one, send me an email at <a href="mailto:acm@cse.msu.edu" target="_blank">acm@cse.msu.edu</a> with "ACM T-Shirt" in the subject line</b>. Again you can still bring your money to Teresa at her office or to any of our meetings. Shirts are just <b>$8</b> and the design is on our website (<a href="http://acm.cse.msu.edu/Files/acmShirt.jpg" target="_blank">http://acm.cse.msu.edu/Files/acmShirt.jpg</a>). If you have ordered one already, we will be sending you information as soon as we receive the shirts.<br>
<br>Next, if you want to get involved with ACM next year, now is the perfect opportunity to run for an e-board (executive board) position. We will hold elections on Monday 2/27 at 6:30PM so that the new e-board can start the planning process for next year early. All students are welcome to run for a position. All positions are open for election and only half of the current e-board will be here next year. You can see a list of positions on our website. Also, we will send out a description of the positions as the elections get closer.<br>
<br><u>Upcoming Events:</u><br><br><ul><li><b>Wednesday 1/18 at Noon</b>: ACM Pizza Break sponsored by <b>Union Pacific</b>. This will be held on the 3rd floor outside the CSE office. We are trying this out instead of the donut breaks this semester. See the attached flier from Union Pacific regarding job opportunities.</li>
<li><b>Thursday 1/26 at 7PM</b>: Talk from Dr. Anil Jain on his research in pattern recognition entitled: <span style>"Biometric Recognition: Some Challenges in Forensics".</span></li><li><b>TBD early February</b>: A talk from Dr. Ofria.</li>
<li><b>Thursday 2/2 at TBD</b>: Microsoft presentation regarding the all-day hackathon. More information will be released as soon as we know but this will be an information session about the hackathon.</li><li><b>Saturday 2/4</b>: All-day Microsoft hackathon. We will release the details when we know but this will involve Windows phone development and there will be prizes.</li>
<li><b>Tuesday 2/7 at 7PM</b>: Laser tag social event with ACM and WIC. We will meet at the Engineering building lobby at 7PM and carpool to Zap Zone. Please RSVP by filling out this form:

They will be discussing Compuware overall, what their software solutions do in the market, as well as speaking about opportunities for full time positions.</li>
